Eye-Opener

Last few months in B-school has been amazing. Meeting a lot of people. Learning all new set of skills. Special mention to all the parties & fun stuffs. The environment over here is dynamic. Always active!

Biggest lesson till now has been learning Multitasking (Time Management). There are just so many things to do over here. Studies is just one part of it. I remember initial days in college. Seniors used to tell us, "There are a lot of things to learn in campus apart from just bookish knowledge. Explore!" Now I understand a bit of it. Exploring a lot of things lately.

Among all these amazing things going around it's easy to loose focus from the main thing...BUILDING A STRONG CAREER! Yesterday we had a resume writing session. Our placecom mentor gave us very useful insight about how to write a good resume. What to do & what not to include in resumes. Not just this, he also talked about a lot of things which can help us grow, e.g. Reading recommended magazines, How to build our Brand, etc. I thank him for his wonderful ideas.

I have been involved in a lot of activities in campus, right from studies to sports to partying. I guess this resume writing session turned out to redirect my focus all over again. It's important to learn. The real question is what is it that you are learning.

Cheers,

Trip to Lake

There is a lake near to our college. People from our class have gone before. I have missed it every time. They had said that it’s nice. Quite close, about 20-25 minutes’ walk.

Today after the class got over, one of my classmates just asked if we would be interested to go over there. She has been there before. I didn’t want to miss this chance. So, I said YES!
I went back to my hostel room. Checked my emails, relaxed…wanted to sleep (after coming over here, it seems I always want to sleep). We all assembled at 5:30 pm near the main gate of college. I was quite excited to go over there. Had not expected that 12 people would come along.

We started walking. Two of us walked quite fast and were way ahead of us. It was fun walking over there as we talked a lot. Pulled each other’s leg…specially mine. Everyone was just pulling my leg. Don’t ask why! Still, it was fun…even leg-pullingJ. We were just teasing each other. Creating pairs of each other from our class. Talking about classroom stuffs which made us all laugh. Mimic few of our teachers…
After walking for some distance on highway, we took a right turn. The path was muddy and maybe it led to a village. This was where my leg was pulled most. People actually started singing some special songs dedicated to meJ. Again it was fun. The person ahead of us took some weird turns which lead us to a different side of the lake.

Finally, we had reached the lake. It looked beautiful in the evening. We crossed muddy and took a path full of wild plants. As we crossed it we were facing the lake ahead. It looked lovely. I wanted to swim (maybe next time). As soon as we reached there, some of us started posing for pictures. Facebook has changed people enjoy places/occasionsJ. There was nothing much to do so I guess posing for photos was the best thing to do. You can also not sit at this side of the bank untill and unless you are ready to wet your pants. You should have seen people (including me), who were putting all their creativity in posing for the photos. I threw some stones in the water. It was lush green around.

It started getting dark now, so, we decided to return to our college. Again the same walk through muddy terrain, wild vegetation and then finally to highway. By this time it had got dark. Trucks and buses; big and small, all kinds of vehicles passed by us, flashing their headlights at us. We kept taking few more photos till the end.

Finally, we reached our college and just before entering our college, we stopped at the only shop in front of our college. Everyone took some refreshments. I took Shikanji (last time I had tasted something like this in Kota, Rajasthan). It was good.

We bid everyone goodbye and felt our bonding getting deeper.

Looking forward to more adventurous trips.

First month in PGDM course

It’s been almost a month that i have been in my PGDM course. Let me just go through it in short.
It started with the same thing which happened last time i.e. getting separated from my family. My college is quite far from the city. It was a ride from the centre of city to my college. I don’t know why many colleges get red brick finishing. Maybe it’s more economical.
First day went in registering process, allotment of hostel room and all formal paper works. My parents and my younger sister were more excited to be in my college than me…maybe because I knew how much I have to study in next 2 yrs ;)
First week was full of adjustments. Adjusting in hostel. Adjusting in formals all day (it was our dress-code for that week, thanks to our seniors). Adjusting with the mess food (seemed good initially). Days were full of classes. It was more of introduction with the curriculum. Evenings were spent knowing batch mates & nights were most interesting. That was the time when we (juniors) got the chance of interacting with the seniors (healthy interactions). We were made to do some stuffs (in limit of course). It was fun for many, not so much fun for others. I enjoyed it. It was not just good platform for interacting with seniors but also with fellow batch mates. Sleeping late night became habit in first week itself. From the second week onwards late nights became habit and regular classes became mandatory. In engineering there was nothing like compulsory attendance. PGDM was different. It requires minimum 85% attendance. That mean s I can miss only 3 classes out of 20…phew. New to me at least!
Made a lot of friends. Some I’m really fond of.
Days passed into weeks. Not so hectic but fair enough busy schedule in college. Regularly studying for next day’s classes. Sleeping late light or I should say sleeping in the morning, sleep deprived days…became general lifestyle in college for almost 80% people (few exceptions had not adjusted yet).
Sometimes thoughts come as if I need some break but my thoughts are interrupted by new assignments & chapters to study for next day J
Looking forward to exciting next 2 yrs.
